Kathryn, Retail Services, University of Waterloo
John always had a smile to share with a funny story or quick-witted line to go with it. He will be missed. Sympathies to Gail and family at this time.

Dr. Jennifer Moore (former Watcard employee)
After graduating from UW in 2000, John was ever so gracious to offer me a job at the Watcard office during my year off before my graduate studies. I had wonderful time learning from him and formed many great and lasting university friendships during my time there. John was a man with a talent for cooking and entertaining, who had a big heart and always wore a big smile on his face. My condolences to Gail and family. Rest in peace JC.

Gail, I am so sorry & shocked with the news of the loss of John.I met him in 1973 when I was his brother Bob's wife to be.I must say,I was awestruck. He was this short guy who stood so tall & seemed small but wore a size xlarge in character, laughed & kidded with me to make me feel comfortable always. He offered advice on freezing foods, cooking & how to know a good bottle of wine.He was always so good to all of us - his family & that's what I shall always remember most. My prayers are with you.

John and I worked closely together over the years that I have been at the Universtiy of Waterloo, and I will miss him - his guidance and advice, but mostly, I will miss his fantastic sense of humour. He was always firing up my interest and we would often place a bet on the outcome of one thing or another...and most often he would win! My heart is saddened by his early departure from this world...and my thoughts and prayers are with you Gail, and the whole Cunningham family. God Bless.

UW Food Services
John started his University of Waterloo career in food services where many of us got to know, appreciate and respect him. After the WatCard office became a ‘standalone’ enterprise, we worked together to deliver exceptional service to students, staff, faculty & visitors. John’s standard was to provide nothing less than excellent service. He took the time to get to know our staff personally and constantly had a story or a joke to share. John will be greatly missed by everyone in our department.
