Obituary for Mary Eleanor Guillaume (Watkinson)

Mary passed peacefully on Friday, September 4, 2020 at St. Mary’s General Hospital in Kitchener at the age of 84.

Beloved wife of Lucien Guillaume for 51 years, loving mother of Kevin and Jennifer Daniele (Simon), cherished grandmother of Fiona, and dear sister of Anna Barnum (Kerry) of Waterloo and Susan McLean (Ken) of Sault Ste Marie.

Mary is predeceased by her parents Scoffield and Norma (Grigg) Watkinson and her sisters Jane Richards (Sault Ste. Marie) and Carol Chadwick (Thunder Bay).

Mary was born and grew up in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, she lived in Montreal between 1969 and 1997 and returned to Ontario to spend her last 23 years in St. Jacobs and Waterloo region. She was an artist from an early age and continued to pursue her passion for colour, line and composition for her whole life. She inspired many of us to look at the world in a beautiful and different way and mentored and encouraged artistic vision in all its forms. Her long association and commitment with the Uptown Gallery in Waterloo gave her great joy and friendship as did her time with Colour Wheel and the artists at the 404.

Her curiosity and courage allowed her to travel and enjoy different countries and cultures and cuisines. She and Lucien had many wonderful adventures together. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her compassion, her amazing culinary skills, her love for music, her inimitable organizational skills and her ability to bring out the best in people.
